Who is John Chilson and why is he qualified to teach this school?
In the past I taught marketing, business, customer service and more at over 50 seminars across the country. Now I'm using that teaching experience, plus my 21 years as a professional Santa Claus, to share with other Santas and Christmas Characters what I have learned. I want to help you become a great Santa and reach and exceed your goals.
Why is there no charge for John's time teaching the North Pole Santa School?
My wife and I are in a wonderful spot in our lives where our income covers our living expenses. After over 20 years of being a professional Santa Claus, I want to share what I have learned so that others can help spread the blessings of Christmas. All I ask is that you cover my travel expenses. I live just north of Denver, Colorado.
However, I am not retired from being Santa. In 2020, in spite of the Corona Virus, I had one of my best years. I conducted 180 online "Visits with Santa." I talked to children and their families all over the US, England, Germany and Canada. Plus I had several 1-car parades and 3 "Sneak-N-Peaks."
Why should I attend the North Pole Santa School instead of one of the other schools?
I don't know, maybe you should. I know there are some wonderful Santa Schools currently being held.
I do know that I will be sharing details of what I have learned and telling stories of what works and what doesn't. None of the material is "broad overview" but the true nitty-gritty of becoming a great Santa Claus. I also know that, so far, everyone who has attended my school has felt they took away a great deal of information and help.
At the NPSS everyone is seated so they can easily see others in the class. This creates great class-wide discussions and sharing of experiences. Besides being the instructor, I am also the discussion leader and will keep us focused. You will learn a great deal, not only from me, from the other class members as well.
Because of this format, when the class is over, you will have made a number of new friends in the Santa community.
What should I bring to the school?
What should I wear? "Santa Casual" is always appropriate if it is comfortable for sitting most of the day and includes something red or Christmas-like. See the photos on this page for how other students dressed.
Notice: Building new friendships starts immediately upon arrival and may last a lifetime.
