Would You Like to Be One of Santa's Elves?

Why does Santa need an Elf

  • At public events Santa needs one or two helpers to manage the line of children and adults waiting to visit with Santa Claus.
  • Keeping people in line entertained and calm while they wait.
  • Taking photos of Santa with other people's cameras.
  • Helping Santa in any way he may need help.

What does it mean to be one of Santa's Elves, a helper?

  • Many people think that all it takes to be santa claus (small “s” and “c”) is to put on a red suit and a fake beard and say “ho ho ho”.
  • Many people also think anyone can wear a green pointed hat with fake ears and call themselves an elf (small “e”).
  • They are both wrong.
  • Becoming a professional Santa Claus (large “S” and “C”) takes time to build up experience and training. Then there is the professional Performance Liability Insurance, annual back ground checks, custom–made suits and more.
  • Becoming a professional Elf (big “E”) takes a similar process — time, experience, training, insurance, annual background checks, outfits and more.
  • The training you receive from me is only the beginning of your journey.

So why should you become a professional Elf?

  • Because it will be one of the most fun and rewarding jobs you will ever have.
  • Because you will quickly find that the love and adoration you receive from children and the warm “Thank You’s” from adults is unlike anything you will experience almost anywhere else.

Will it always be easy and fun? Absolutely NOT!

  • When you are in the middle of a snow storm trying to find your next event, it is not easy.
  • When you tell stories about the North Pole and no one even cracks a smile, it is not fun.
  • When someone pays you with a check that bounces, it is not fun or easy.
  • But then you go to your next event and find that all the children and adults are eagerly waiting for your arrival and it is all worth it.

What will it cost to become an Elf?

  • You will be responsible for creating your own elf outfit with Santa's guidance -- see below for more information.
  • You will be responsible for obtaining a Colorado background check. You can do it online for under $10.00.
  • You will be responsible for paying for your liability insurance. However, I will buy it and deduct $5.00 per hour from what you are paid until it is paid for.
  • You will be an independent contractor and responsible for your own taxes.

What will I be paid?

  • Pay is in the range of $25 – $50 per hour for a minimum of two hours per event.
  • You will receive payment at the beginning of each event.
  • Already this year I have 4 events scheduled for 3 hours each where I could use one or two elves.
  • In addition, there are several fun events where I volunteer and Elves are welcome to join me as volunteers.

Qualifications Needed to Become an Elf

  • Any age from 18 on up is okay, even grandparents might enjoy this job.
